Kathleen Shanahan Receives Governor’s Business Leader Award

Kathleen Shanahan, Chair and CEO of URETEK Holdings, Inc, was recently presented the 2011 Governor’s Business Leader Award. Governor Rick Scott, along with Florida Council of 100 Chair Steve Halverson presented the award to Ms. Shanahan at the Florida Council of 100 Fall General Membership meeting in Naples, FL.
Kathleen Shanahan was recognized as a CEO who was been a business leader for the state, excelling not only in the business world, but in the civic/philanthropic world as well.

Ms. Shanahan currently serves as Chair of Florida’s State Board of Education and the Florida Supreme Court Judicial Nominating Commission, as board member of the Florida Council of 100, the Eckerd Youth Alternatives Board, the Lincoln Center Institute Board, as pro-bono advisor to the Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence and as an executive member of the Republican National Convention 2012 Tampa Bay Host Committee.
Additionally, she has held federal and state public policy positions of chief of staff for Florida Governor Jeb Bush, chief of staff to Vice President-elect Dick Cheney, deputy secretary of the California Trade and Commerce Agency, special assistant to then Vice President George Bush, staff assistant on President Reagan’s National Security Council and as a member of the National Parks Foundation Board, a Presidential appointment.
Previous recipients of the Governor’s Business Leader Award are Leonard Miller (Lennar Corp) posthumously in 2002, Al Hoffman (WCI Communities) in 2003, Chuck Cobb (Cobb Partners, Ltd) in 2004, in 2005 to Joe Lacher (BellSouth Communications), in 2006 to Governor Jeb Bush, in 2007 to Tom James (Raymond James Financial, Inc.), Peter Rummell (Nicklaus Companies) in 2008, Marshall Criser, Jr. (University of Florida) in 2009, and Barney Barnett (Publix Super Markets, Inc.) in 2010.
